Despite the fact that there are several high-profile actors featured in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," including James Franco, Freida Pinto and Tom Felton, the stars have not been shy about the fact that the apes and special effects are the must-see elements of the film.
"There's a mix of fantastic CGI and amazing effects that we've never seen onscreen before," Felton told MTV News at the premiere of the film. "Along with a strong story and a strong message that humans can't play God too much; we should not overstep our bounds when it comes to Mother Nature.
"We ruin it all," Felton continued, speaking to the oft-self-destructive nature of the human race. "We are our own cause of destruction, which is quite an insight, I think. Hopefully, it is a wakeup call for the world so we don't overstep our boundaries."
In addition to looking out for that powerful message, fans of the original "Planet of the Apes" starring Charlton Heston should keep an ear out for a certain line Felton was honored to deliver.
"I didn't know for sure it was going to be in the cut, but you just confirmed for me, so thank you; I'm very excited to see the infamous line," he said with a smile about the chance to say, "Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!" "My dad was so excited about that. He's an old-school fan who grew up with them and loved them, so he'll be pleased to hear that."
Felton's dad might also be pleased to hear that "Apes" director Rupert Wyatt and co-star Andy Serkis had nothing but positive things to say about his son's work ethic and performance.
"He's a man who prepares a great deal," Wyatt said of Felton. "I think this was his first film where he played an American. His accent was flawless. He trained really hard to get it to that place. He's a consummate professional. When you've grown up on a film set, which he has, you can go one of two ways, and Tom is such a gentleman and such a professional. He completely threw himself into that role and was up for anything. It was very inspiring for me as a director to work with someone like that."
"He's just got fantastic energy," Serkis added. "He's so positive. He wants to keep working at it and get it right. And he's great fun as well. He's really great fun."
