Supermodel Linda Evangelista, who had the literal good fortune to get herself knocked up by a billionaire — Francois-Henri Pinault, CEO of the company that owns luxury brands like Gucci and Yves St. Laurent — has named her asking price for child support: $46,000.
Every month.
For one child. A human child, even. He’s not an elephant or an exotic tiger or anything.
And what does she need all that money for?
- $175,000/year for chauffeurs — and not just any old drivers will do. No, these need to be armed former police detectives.
- $80,000/year for a round-the-clock nanny. Pinault’s lawyer claims Evangelista testified “she does not want to be alone with the child.”
- $90,000/year for vacations.
The judge already said hahano to that last one and scratched it off her list, but he does seem sympathetic to the other requests since Evangelista’s little underaged jackpot is a billionaire’s kid and thus could be targeted for kidnapping and ransom. Her babydaddy’s lawyer, however, pointed out the model could help foot those costs since she’s worth more than $8 million herself, making $1.8 million last year alone.
But this is my favorite part:
“How many hours a week do you work?” the judge asked the model at one point.
“On days when I do not work, I am working on my image,” Evangelista answered, her voice soft, and tinged with defensiveness. “I have to hit the gym. I have beauty appointments. I have to work toward my next job and maintaining my image,” she said, “just like an athlete.”
If modeling is a sport, the disabled list must be full of zits and hangnails and bad haircuts.
