The singer and actress gave Vanity Fair Magazine her first interview since announcing her split from her husband of seven years last month. Even with three marital flops to her credit, Jennifer says she is an “eternal optimist” and describes love as her “biggest dream.”
The 42-year-old — who has three-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with Marc — has learned to walk away from something when it is not right.
“That was my biggest dream, and I really worked hard at it. We both did,” VF contributing editor Lisa Robinson. “Sometimes it doesn’t work—and that’s sad…I am positive—determined to move forward with my life, bring up my babies, and do the best job I can as a mother, entertainer, and person. I now look forward to new challenges. I feel strong.”
But one thing J-Lo says she and Anthony do right is work together. They’ll be doing plenty of that on their Latin-American talent show Que Viva! The musical competition, produced by American Idol’s Simon Fuller, will feature the exes as judges.
“I will always respect Marc as a singer and performer. We actually work great together, and he was always very supportive. Together we could make magic—and we did. He will always be in our lives. He will always hold a special place in my heart as the father of my children.”
The September issue of Vanity Fair arrives on newsstands Aug. 9.
